I don’t want to be here
Wrap me up tight
Send me on my way
Couldn’t see then what is now so clear
You string me along
You string me along

I don’t blame you for making this hard
I don’t blame you for my stupid heart
I don’t blame you for making this hard
I don’t blame you at all

“I think most of us (men and women) make the mistake of buying our outerwear too oversized.” - quote and picture via The Sartorialist
I COMPLETELY agree! Too many people make the mistake of buying a larger size than usual for outerwear. I’ve never really been on board with that because it takes away from a finely-tailored look more often than not…especially when you’re looking at purchasing a beautiful trench or pea coat.

Break Out of Your Slump

I was listening to the radio coming home a few weeks ago and caught a little bit of The John Tesh Radio Show. Usually, I’m just listening for the music (my CD player is broken…), but John had some really worthwhile things to say on this particular night. He was talking about productivity in the workplace and how to stay on top of your game, even when you feel creatively drained. There were several tips mentioned, some which I already practice regularly, but I was especially struck by how he described positive visualization:

“Positive visualization. For example: In 1991, former Atlanta Braves pitcher John Smoltz was in the worst slump of his career. So he hired a sports psychologist, who made a videotape of some of Smolt’z best pitches. After Smoltz watched that video over and over, he had one of the best winning streaks of his career! He says it’s because he never made another pitch until he pulled up one of those positive images in his mind. Experts say you can do the same thing at work by keeping videos of your best sales presentations, or photos of your top clients, to remind yourself of past successes.”

The last part has been resonating with me ever since I heard it. What a great way to keep your confidence going strong and realize untapped potential in yourself.

Cool trick!

This is a quick tutorial (just over 30 seconds) on how to get more volume and wave into naturally straight hair. That’s what I need!

I just bought a sweater a lot like hers during my last thrifting adventure. It’s short-sleeved in cream - one of my usual colors. LOVE.
I think I’ll wear mine with dark skinnies, tall brown boots, dangly leaf earrings, and a trench.

Alison Sudol is the bright red-headed face of A Fine Frenzy, one of my most favorite musical projects. But I love her style too, and this picture shows off the vintage pretty-ness that I love so much.

“King of Anything” by Sara Bareilles

I heard this song driving home from work tonight. I knew that Sara had some new music coming out, but I hadn’t caught a listen yet. This song is peppy and fun, and the video is super cute…totally Sara.

I’m a fan!
